The Reluctant Twilighter

I can't believe I have a Twilight blog…

Pretty Kristen At Sundance January 24, 2010

Okay, this is going to be a quick one but I can’t NOT share this picture.  LOOK AT HER:

Isn’t this beautiful?!?!?!?  Kristen is in Park City, UT this weekend because she has TWO films (The Runaways and Welcome to the Rileys) showing at the Sundance Film Festival.  I love everything about this picture.  I love her hair, her makeup, and most importantly, THE SNOW.  Everyone looks better in the snow, don’t you think?  Even the ugliest of the ugly looks ten times better when they are surrounded by falling snowflakes.  Pretty. (Note: I am not including Kristen in the “ugliest of ugly” category.  I just realized that’s kind of what it sounds like.)  I hope Sundance is everything Kristen hoped it would be this year!  From what I’ve heard, both movies are getting great reviews!  Yay for her!

P.S. I don’t have source for this picture, I’m sorry to whoever it came from!  All I know is I got it from Twitter.  And that it’s my new wallpaper.

I’m A Lame-O But I Don’t Care December 6, 2009

Hello internet world!  I’m back… sort of.  This is actually one of those lame-ass posts where I’m only here to say that I’ll be back soon but not really post anything of real substance.  I don’t really have an excuse for my absence, except maybe that I was otherwise occupied with New Moon.  I was originally going to review it on it here, but then I realized that the three of you who read this already know what I think.  Whether it be at the MLS Cup Final game in the bitter Seattle cold, or secretly at a dining room table during a friend’s birthday party, we have discussed this movie in great detail and I don’t think I need to repeat myself.  Basically, I loved it.  A billion times better than Twilight, I’m totally in love with Kristen Stewart and think she did an amazing job, and Chris Weitz is my hero.  Of course I have some issues, but they can be overlooked and overall I am happy.

Speaking of being happy, words cannot describe how HAPPY I am to tell you that tomorrow I will, once again, be attending a show featuring Mr. Johnny Flynn!!!  He’s apparently in town to record his second album (which I’m also dying about, btw) and since his (and Rob’s) good friend Marcus Foster is doing a show, I guess he decided to join along!  Everyone wins!!!  Especially me, because I. CAN’T. WAIT.  You all know by now how I feel about Johnny, he’s the music love of my life and to get to see him again this year is totally unexpected.  Dreams really do come true guys, sometimes twice!

So I will come back soon with a full report on my Britpack-filled evening, it is sure to be lots of good times.  Until then… just… um… well, just keep on doing whatever you’re doing.  Keep on keepin’ on!  Later!

New Moon Mania!!! November 16, 2009

HOLY HELL!  New Moon Mania is now in full force, people!  The premiere was tonight in Westwood, CA and a billion trillion fans and celebrities were there.  I caught a little bit of the livefeed on the red carpet.  Anya Marina (from the soundtrack) was doing the red carpet coverage, and she’s an idiot.  Her voice was annoying and she spent a LOT of time talking about herself.  Twitter was much more entertaining, especially with the LTR girls there.  Pretty much everyone looked beautiful, even Rob!  Surprised?  No, no, of course not.

Kristen was… well, she was gorgeous.  Her dress was amazing, take a look, I picked the extra big size for you:

I think I’m in love!  I can’t wait to see her tonight on Conan O’Brien, word from the east coast Twitterers is she did a good job.  It’s so cool to see the difference between Kristen now and Kristen one year ago.  LOVE. IT.  Go here if you want to take a look at everyone in more detail.  My other favorites were Anna Kendrick (Jessica) and Dakota Fanning (Jane.)  My least favorites were sadly, Stephenie Meyer and Christian Serratos (Angela.)  Major fails, sorry ladies!

I'm sorry!

So currently there is a show on my television right now called “Love Bites.”  It’s on MTV.  Basically, the entire premise of this half-hour show is debating whether or not Rob and Kristen are dating.  GROSS!  Why, MTV, WHY?!?!  You guys suck.  One minute you’re talking about the media invading their lives, the next minute you’re interviewing some a-hole paparazzi who swears he saw them making out or something.  Nice life MTV.  I hate you.  Changing the channel now.  I guess I can endure a few minutes of Jay Leno to see what’s going on with Mr. Taylor Lautner tonight.

We also have this.  People Magazine just named Rob the sexiest man alive.  Well, maybe.  That’s the word on the internet street, at least, but I couldn’t find anything official.  Sooo…. congratulations?  I guess?  Who cares.  I guess it’s kind of a big deal since that title usually goes to older men… nope, still don’t care.

Fact or Fake?

Ooh!  Taylor’s on!  He looks the same every day.  Girls are screaming.  He brought his grandma.  Awww… and now they’re showing an embarrassing clip from his past.  He hung out with old people in Vancouver to escape the crazy fans.  His laugh makes me cringe.  It’s kind of nerdy.  Sorry.  Oh crap!  Now they’re showing an exclusive clip from the movie!  I getter get out of here!  That’s it for tonight, I hope you all enjoy your week!  Thanks for reading!

PS:  This doesn’t have much to do with anything, but Jamie Campbell Bower (Caius) tweeted this today: “I like Johnny Flynn’s new EP.  Named Sweet William.  Pretty Pretty Pretty. x”  I smiled so big when I read this.  Why?  Because he has over sixty thousand followers and he can get the JF-word out much, much, more effectively than I can.  Thanks Jamie!  I heart you now.

PPS:  I saw the movie “Pirate Radio” yesterday.  It was awesome.  So fun and funny.  It stars a young actor named Tom Sturridge, who just happens to be a good friend of Rob.  After all this New Moon business dies down, I will discuss my theories on how these two friends (along with 3-4 other young British boys) are either a) clones or b) robots.  Stay tuned.

PPPS:  THREE MORE DAYS!!!  WEEEEEEE!!!!  Okay, now I really gots to go, we’re having a huge windstorm here in Seattle and my power is going to go out any second!  Yipes!

Kristen Stewart Lovefest! November 7, 2009

Finally! I was feeling bad for taking so long on this Kstew Lovefest, but then all these articles came out this week which made me love her even more.  And THEN the press junket in LA came along last night and now there’s all sorts of interview videos out there that have only increased my love even more!  My Kstew love-tank is the fullest it’s ever been, therefore this is the perfect time to write all about how much I love her.  And this time around, I’m not saying a single mean thing.  Not one.  All love this time Kristen, I promise.  ALL. LOVE.

First, I want to share what her fellow cast members have been saying about her.  Vanity Fair has been releasing interviews from various cast members throughout the last couple of weeks, most of them ending with a “Describe the following people in one word” section.  Here are the words that Kristen’s peers chose for her:

Kellan Lutz: “Adventurous”

Peter Facinelli: “Sweet.”

Chaske Spencer: “Fighter.”

Kiowa Gordon: “Edgy.”

Alex Meraz: “Badass.”

Adventurous, sweet, fighter, edgy, and badass?  This sounds like my kind of girl!  In a recent video interview with Ben Lyons for E!, Billy Burke was asked whether or not he feels protective of little Kristen:  “No. She can handle herself.  I’m scared of her actually.”   Awesome.  And of course, we want to know what Rob has to say about her, right?  Right.  (Regardless of whether you are Team Robsten or Team Nonsten, you can’t deny that he probably knows her better than most.)  Some of my favorite quotes from him:

robert_pattinson_kristen_stewart_harpers_bazaar_new_moon-1

Look at those shoes!!

“Kristen doesn’t take any slack.  She sticks to her guns — and that’s difficult to do.”

“She’ll decide on someone a lot quicker. She has a lot more self-esteem than I do, so she’s like, ‘You’re an idiot and I don’t want to talk to you,’ and I’m like, ‘I’m an idiot too!’ So I’ll talk to an idiot for like three days before deciding.”  (Side note:  Hey Rob, if Kristen doesn’t talk to idiots, and she talks to you, then you couldn’t be an idiot, correct?  Except that I kind of feel like you’re an idiot for not realizing that.   J/K, idiot free!  No one is an idiot!  Unless, of course, Kristen says you are.)

“Kristen was very different from how I expected the girl who played Bella would be. I was kind of intimidated.”

“She’s a unique girl.  You really don’t meet many people like Kristen.”

When Rob talks about Kristen it makes me jealous that I’m not friends with her.  Lately I have had the extreme misfortune of dealing with some sensitive, passive-aggressive, fake-ass babies in the forms of grown women (coworkers), and Kristen sounds like the perfect antidote.

True Love Waits October 19, 2009

Tonight is a momentous night.  Right about this time, exactly one month from today, we’ll all be waiting around various theaters across the world, waiting for the biggest moment of our lives.  And to mark this night, I have decided to cut myself off from any more New Moon footage from now on.  If I haven’t seen it already, I’m not watchin’ it.  Seriously.  This is it.

This includes the footage to be shown on the Scream Awards (airing October 27th) featuring the wolf pack.  Footage that apparently contains improved, “more realistic” wolves.  The same footage that was featured on Entertainment Tonight this evening.  The same footage that you can download on iTunes for free RIGHT NOW.  I would love nothing more than to pull up iTunes and watch these fancypants CGI wolves at this very moment.  I downloaded the clip already, it’s ready to go.  I was about to watch it, and then I realized something.  Watching these scenes will be so much more awesome if I’m seeing them for the first time in the theater.  On the BIG screen.  I’m sure these wolves would be pretty sweet on any screen no matter what size… but I want to be dazzled.

My anticipation for midnight November 19th IS. GROWING. BY. THE. MINUTE.  The temptation is so high to just go and find every little clip and picture I can.  But I must be strong!  I know the payoff will be high.  I already feel like I’ve seen so much at this point.  Summit has been so kind to show us Bella’s birthday (inlcuding Jasper’s new, yet still ridiculous wig), motorcycles, new creepy Laurent, cliff-diving, shirtless Jacob, hell, they’ve even shown us shirtless Edward!!!  (The most highly-anticipated in the movie for sure.  Well, by me at least.)  I just want to save something for the big day.  For my big day.  I’m doing the right thing.  Right guys?  RIGHT?!?!

Now, I don’t want anyone reading this to think that they have to follow me in this.  I will not judge you.  This is a personal choice that I’m making for me, you all do as you see fit.  Chacun a son gout. (“To each his own” in French.  I know, fancy, right?)  Go ahead, right now, and check out those wolves.  Here’s the link. Let me know what you think.  If I can’t watch it myself, I can at least hear all about it!  Apparently Bella kicks some Quileute ass.

NMWP

And so,  believing that true love waits, I make a commitment to God, myself, my family, my friends, my reader(s), Stephenie Meyer, Chris Weitz, Kristen Stewart, Moon and UC, Johnny Flynn (because he cares), and Edward Cullen (duh, because he’s the biggest supporter of True Love Waits ever) to a month of purity including New Moon abstinence from this day until the day I enter into the Cinebarre on November 19th.

On a completely different note, I reached 500 hits today!  I know that’s not really a lot compared to a lot of blogs out there, but it’s strange for me.  As someone who previously kept her Twilight thoughts to herself, it’s a big deal.  Of course I do realize that if I hadn’t written about Kristen that one time, so long ago, I wouldn’t be anywhere near 500, but whatever.  I’ll take what I can get.  The searches for her are at least getting nicer. Mostly just “Kristen Stewart,” instead of “Kristen Stewart is not nice.”  Maybe the world of Twilighters is starting to take the hint.  So we’re all in agreement?  We’re cool with Kristen?  Okay then.  I think this calls for a big, giant, Kstew lovefest.  I can’t think of a better way to celebrate 500 views, can you?

Come back soon for Kstew Lovefest!!

Quick Recap September 14, 2009

Yesterday was a big day.  I would love to go into major detail right now, but I’m super-tired so here’s what I can say right now:

Fact: Kristen looked beautiful.   I loved her hair and her dress.

Fact: Ashley Greene also looked beautiful. I loved her hair and her dress too.

Fact: Everyone else I know thought Ashley looked beautiful too. I don’t know what the folks over at Entertainment Weekly were smoking when they put her on their worst dressed list… why E.W.? WHY?  Usually I’m on your side on everything, but not today.  YOU HAVE FAILED ME.

Fact: Muse kicked ass.  I can’t wait for the new album.

Fact: Beyonce wins MVP of the night. That girl’s got everything.

Fact: Watching the New Moon trailer on a big screen TV is way better than on my laptop. I got goosebumps either way.

Fact: Today is my sister’s birthday!!!   Happy Birthday Sister!!!  Thank you for being one of my 3 regular readers!

Fact: November 20th is TOO FAR AWAY!!!!

Be back soon!!

Big Time Stuff September 12, 2009

I remembered that this blog came about originally because I used to email a friend with all the latest and greatest Twilight news.  She was a busy lady, who still is, so I feel the need today to make sure everyone is well-informed on the events of this weekend.  Big time stuff coming up.

First, the Video Music Awards is airing on Sunday night on MTV.  This. is. big.  BIG! TIME! STUFF!  Ashley Greene will be fashion correspondent on the red carpet.  Muse will be performing a song from their new album.  (As we all know, Muse is one of Stephenie Meyer’s favorite bands who inspired her while she was writing the Twilight series.  Plus, they kick ass.)  Death Cab for Cutie will be premiering their song, “Meet Me On The Equinox” on MTV.com.  Why does this matter to me, you ask?  Because this song was written exclusively for the New Moon soundtrack!  These Northwest boys apparently LOVE Twilight…well, not really I don’t think.  But they were kind enough to help Chris Weitz out and make a song.  Looks like the entire soundtrack is going to be pretty awesome, I heard Bon Iver is contributing as well.  I can’t wait.  BTW, you can already pre-order the soundtrack.  Done and done.

Hometown Heroes!!

Hometown Heroes!!

Furthermore, on this same awards show, Rob, Kristen, and Taylor will be presenting a third New Moon trailer.  A trailer that leaked onto the internet today but was snatched up by Summit before I had a chance to watch it.  Now I want to take this time to talk to everyone about a situation that could possibly arise on Sunday night.  Last year, the VMA’s were hosted by a Mr. Russell Brand.  His hosting did not go over very well, both in the Twilight world and in the regular, non-Twilight one (does such a world exist?) as well.  This is because he made some not-so-nice jokes about the Jonas brothers and their purity rings, called George Bush a retarded cowboy, and much more devastating, interrupted the cast of Twilight while they were trying to introduce a performance by Paramore.  He jumped in with his crazy antics, completely cutting off Rob’s lines, not allowing him to speak at all.  Thus causing chaos in the Twilight world.  War was declared on poor Russell and I’m actually pretty surprised that they asked him to come back this year.  Pleasantly surprised, that is.  I love Russell Brand.  I think he is hilarious.  I read his book, it was really interesting.  I watched his comedy special, and I laughed HARD.  He has a great website with lots of funny videos and posts.  (JUST ADDED! Go check out his website! Today he posted a video today where he sings a little song to a picture of Rob!) Now, there is a possibility that Russell could F things up again, and I hope that if that happens you all can forgive him.  He really means well, he just has a problem controlling himself sometimes.  So give him a break, okay?  The best we can hope for is that they chain him up backstage when it’s time for the Twilight kids to do their thing.  At the very least, turn off his mic when the trailer starts.

Give him a chance. He's actually quite nice.

Give him a chance. He's actually quite nice.

Another important event this weekend is Bella’s birthday, (Sunday, September 13th) which means Stephenie Meyer Day in Forks!  The real town of Forks has chosen this day each year to honor Stephenie and all the attention that her books have brought to their little town.  Exciting activities include: a tour of Forks High School, a character look-alike contest, a car-decorating contest, a bonfire at First Beach, and cake!!  WOOT!  WOOT!  Try not to go too crazy, kids.

Let's get this party started!

Let's get this party started!

Even if you can’t make it to Forks, at least do a little something for Bella on her birthday.  Sing a birthday song, eat a cupcake, whatever you gotta do.  The first time I ever went to Forks and La Push was a year ago, on the day after Stephenie Meyer Day.  The entire town was still decorated for Bella’s birthday.   Banners and balloons in every store window.  I was so embarrassed to be there and declared it the nerdiest thing I had ever done.  Little did I know that a year later I’d be doing this…

Anyways, I hope you all enjoy the events of this weekend, I know for sure I will!

Really? September 6, 2009

Here's one...

Here's one...

I’ve been noticing an interesting trend happening on my little blog.  In the last two and a half months, I’ve posted 17 or 18 times, but by FAR the most popular is the one I wrote about Kristen Stewart.  WordPress allows me to see which posts are the most popular, and this one takes the cake.  Every day I get hits on this post, even today!  Yesterday’s total was 11.  That’s odd, considering it’s over two months old.   If I had to guess, I would think that a post about Rob would be more popular, but apparently I don’t know anything about what the Twihards are interested in.

Another feature of WordPress that I personally enjoy is that you can see exactly what phrases are searched that lead to hits.  The girls over at LTT share theirs with people every once in awhile, always resulting in a hilarious post.  And I have to say, sometimes the ones on mine can be pretty funny:

Here's two...

Here's two...

“Kristen Stewart odd behaviour”

“Kristen Stewart is not nice”

“Kristen Stewart arrogant”

“Kristen Steward”

“reluctant it girl Kristen Stewart”

“every pair of converse that Kristen Stewart owns”

“mtv podium”

Three...

Three...

I’m sure I’ve probably Googled some funny things in my life, especially taken out of context, but really?  Who is searching for “Kristen Stewart is not nice” on the internet?  I’m betting it’s a bitter preteen girl who is not happy about the latest Robsten rumor and is trying to justify her hatred of poor Kristen by finding some example of her being “not nice.”  Hopefully once these people read that post, they have a change of heart, because if you recall, I believe I solidly proved that Kristen Stewart IS nice.  These people better be switching over to Team Kristen…I think I might actually be single-handedly converting every Kristen-hater on the planet.

This leads me to believe that maybe I’m going about this blog all wrong.  That’s why I’ve decided to change the focus from all things Twilight-related to ONLY Kristen Stewart-related subjects.  Any news, gossip, appearances, paparazzi photos, etc will be found here for your reading pleasure…okay…maybe not.  I like Kristen, but not that much.  For now I will continue on with a wide variety of subjects, some involving Kstew and some not.  But just for the sake of getting more readers, don’t be surprised if throughout my posts from now on, you randomly find phrases like “every pair of converse that Kristen Stewart owns” inserted for no reason.  Just go with it.  : )

And four.

And four.

P.S. I spent a lot of time on Google today to find every pair of Converse that Kristen Stewart owns…grand total is….drumroll please….4.  4 pairs of Converse.  Now you know.

I’m No Hater: Kristen Stewart Edition June 29, 2009

"I'm really not an a-hole, I swear..."

"I'm really not an a-hole, I swear..."

Today I wanted to write something nice…in defense of our dear friend Kristen Stewart.  She gets a bad rap sometimes, and I am here to declare that I am, in fact, NOT a Kristen Stewart hater.  A lot of people I know are, for various reasons, but I’ve decided I’m not one of them.  At least not anymore…mere months ago I had the same feelings you might be feeling about her right now, but I’ve changed my mind and I’m asking you to give her a chance.  Let’s jump in, shall we?

(NOTE:  I decided the original draft that I wrote for this topic was not nice enough, so I had to kind of start over.  I hope my love for her comes across a little better this time around.)

I’m going to start with her acting, because that’s what she does for a living.  Or at least that’s what she’s getting paid for…oops, wait, I’m supposed to be nice here.  (Sorry Kristen, but this is the part of you that I’m still not sold on.)  I’ll admit I don’t have much to go on.  I saw Panic Room a long time ago, the only thing I remember about her is that she had short hair like a boy and asthma.  Obviously I’ve seen Twilight and I also saw Adventureland, and I’m sorry to say I’m just not impressed.  She’s always making that same face, the same f-ing, fluttering-eyelid face in every scene and it drives me nuts.  But let’s stop right there.  Really, is this her fault?  If she’s filming a scene and the director says, “Cut!  Perfect!  That was great, Kristen!” when it was, in fact, NOT AT ALL great, who is to blame?  I say the blame goes to the director.  (Catherine Hardwicke, I’m talking to you.)  I’m really hoping that now with Weitz in her corner, she hits it out of the park in New Moon.  It’s my favorite book and I would LOVE to see Kristen do an awesome job.  I have high hopes.  I’ll get back to you on that in November.

Moving on, next on our list of reasons people seem to dislike her is her extremely odd behaviour in any interview, public appearance, behind the scenes featurette, etc.  This was my major issue originally because I thought she was thinking she was better than everybody else, and I was not down with that.  But I think it’s just that her discomfort in interviews unfortunately often comes across as arrogance.  It’s amazing how feeling shy and awkward look exactly the same as bitchy, don’t you think?  For awhile I thought she was ungrateful, but the more I see of her, the more I’m convinced that she really is thankful for playing Bella and for the dedicated fans.  And let’s be honest, if you were in her position, do you think you’d be all poised and confident?  I sure know I wouldn’t.  If anything, it’s kind of a relief to see her (and Rob, by the way) not really sure what to do with all this fame.   If you think about it, being completely comfortable with all this attention from the media and those wacky fans would be SO weird.  I know she doesn’t smile much, but I really think most of the time she’s just kind of in a bewildered sort-of daze.  Also remember that she’s only nineteen!  This is a lot to take in at her age.

Of course my favorite awkward-Kristen moment is at the recent 2009 MTVkristen-at-podium Movie Awards.  This was the turning point for me. She wins Best Female Performance, give a touchingly gracious speech, and then is so overwhelmed with gratitude that she DROPS HER GOLDEN POPCORN!!!  So. awesome.  But the best part comes next, when she says, “So I was just about as awkward as you  thought I was going to be!  Bye!”  And then runs off stage.  You guys, she knows!  She’s in on it!  She understands that we all think she’s a weirdo!  That makes it all okay!  Poor girl.  I wore a pair of Converse with a dress that next day as a sign of solidarity.  (BTW,  if wearing Chuck Taylors with dresses is wrong then I don’t want to be right.  I’m just saying…)

I’m not going to talk about any of the druggie pictures, you can make up your own minds about that.  And I’m not going to talk about all the “Rob and Kristen are in love” rumors either.  If that’s really true and that’s what he wants, then so be it.  (But for the record,  I don’t think it’s true.)  So why else do I love Kristen Stewart, you ask?  Well, here’s a couple more reasons:

Look at how pretty she is!

Look at how pretty she is!

I LOVE her style.  She’s young, she takes risks, and I like it. Her dress at the Twilight premiere was beautiful.  I’m pretty impressed with her choices at every premiere or event.  (I just went to Google and did an image search of  “Kristen Stewart fashion” just to make sure that last statement was really true.  It is.  Oh, and PS, amongst these pictures I saw a few of her smiling.  So there.)

I also really enjoyed her contributions to the commentary on the Twilight dvd.  Once I learned how to tune out Catherine’s whining, I found Kristen very charming.  She was joking, laughing, embarrassed at herself, making fun of Rob…not at all like the person I thought she was.  I think this is one of the few times we get a chance to see (or hear, I guess) what she’s really like.  When she’s not surrounded by cameras or screaming girls.

The point of these ramblings is to basically ask that if you are a Kristen-hater, take a minute or two and put yourself in her position.  It’s not easy being Bella, so try and give her a break.  I don’t think she’s the jerkface you may think she is.  And if you already love Kristen, well done!  I’m very happy to make the switch over to Team Kristen and I look forward to a long and happy life together with you all.  Once again, thanks for reading!

**This post is dedicated to one friend in particular, you know who you are, so I hope you were paying attention!

UPDATE:  I wrote this quite a long time ago, if you want my more updated opinion on Kristen, go here!
